Meet Esther
Esther has loved Malawi since she was little, and the friendships she has built there have become an important part of her life. Over the years, she has found her own ways to serve through Akonda, from organizing group visits to creating schedules and itineraries. A planner at heart, she enjoys bringing the details together so people can make the most of their time in Malawi.
As her faith has grown, so has her desire to follow where God leads. She is taking the next steps as He opens doors, learning and serving along the way.
Coming Alongside a Preschool
When Malawian friends approached Akonda with a vision for starting a preschool, Esther took a personal interest in helping them bring it to life. They lead the school, guided by what they believe God has called them to do for the children in their community.
Esther has gathered supplies and raised support to help the preschool get started. She has also connected sponsors with students whose families could not otherwise afford to attend, giving more children the opportunity to learn alongside their peers.
Looking Ahead to May 2027
After graduating from high school in 2027, Esther plans to move to Malawi in May and serve for at least six months. She is open to staying longer as God leads and opportunities unfold.
Alongside her involvement with the preschool, she will help with Akonda’s everyday work across its programs and community partnerships. She hopes to help supporters in the United States feel more connected to the people and work they support by sharing what she sees, hears, and takes part in on the ground.

Pray for Esther as she finishes high school and prepares for this next step. Ask God to guide her decisions, provide what she needs, and help her serve with humility, wisdom, and love. Please also pray for the Malawian friends leading the preschool and the children and families they serve.
